Merula, housed in a superbly-designed, award-winning tin, is the Valdueza Estate's second oil. Pressed from a blend of the olives grown on the estate - arbequina, hojiblanca, picual and morisca - to give an oil which is always delightfully well-balanced and versatile.
2025 Harvest Notes
The 2025 Merula harvest recalls dewy cut grass and fig leaf on the nose, with a subtle note of banana skin. On the palate, gentle bitterness from green banana skin is balanced by underripe tomato, with a fresh and balanced green pepper note on the finish.
We recommend pairing Merula with simple, savoury dishes: try it with sheep’s milk cheeses such as Manchego or feta, drizzle it over roasted seasonal vegetables like courgette, aubergine, and peppers, or use over boiled potatoes.
Please note that tins are fragile and can sometimes arrive dented. We will not be able to refund or replace any dented tins unless the seal itself is damaged or the tin is leaking.
