Under Fontanazza’s advice, he imported 17 varieties of olive trees from the north, south and the islands of Italy and began a nursery to propagate these trees, planting 42 hectares of groves. He \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Aptos Display',sans-serif; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"\u003ewas considered as the “Father of Olive Oil” in South Africa, as he paved the way for South Africa’s olive oil industry as it is known today.
